The Wisdom Tooth Extraction Process

Simple or surgical are the two types of procedures a patient can expect to undergo when preparing for wisdom tooth extraction. If these teeth, which are located at the back of the mouth, have fully or partially erupted, we will turn to our dental elevators to lift each tooth from its socket before using dental pliers to rock the tooth back and forth. Once it detaches, we will move on to the next one.

If, however, a tooth is impacted, a surgical procedure must be performed. This includes numbing the area before making an incision in the gums to expose the impacted tooth. Carefully dissecting the tooth into sections, we will remove it so as not to damage the underlying bone.
