Teeth Whitening Baytown

Get a Dazzlingly Bright Smile

The most common cosmetic dentistry procedure completed across the United States is teeth whitening. The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry completed a survey and found that 99.7% of all people asked thought that a person’s smile was an important social asset and that white and bright teeth were the biggest issue in creating an attractive smile.

Dr. Hutto and Dr. Williams at Aesthetic Family Dentistry understand how important your smile is to you. That’s why we offer a range of different products and procedures to allow you to have the bright smile you’ve always wanted with professional teeth whitening in Baytown.

Eliminate Tooth Staining and Discoloration

Your tooth color is genetically determined and can vary in shades and degree of brilliance. Some people actually have a dazzling white smile naturally, while others have a pale yellow to slightly blue-gray color to their teeth.

As we age, our teeth tend to become stained and discolored. This is partially due to natural aging but also is caused by a variety of other factors. Dental decay and dental problems combined with medications can change the color of your teeth. Stains from foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, soda, red wine, and most types of berries can also cause staining. Acidic foods and drinks also tend to erode enamel and allow more significant stains to occur.

Teeth Whitening Options at Aesthetic Family Dentistry

When you come in for your regular checkup or cleaning or to have a dental procedure completed, Dr. Hutto will be happy to explain the options you should consider for tooth bleaching. These can include:

  • In-Office Teeth Whitening – This is the most effective tooth whitening option and is convenient, painless, and typically lasts about an hour. Your gums will be protected with a rubber dam and the teeth will be coated with a 15 to 35% solution of carbamide peroxide. The percentage of carbamide peroxide will depend on the whitening required and the significance of the stains and discolorations. A special light may be used to enhance the whitening process. You will just sit back and enjoy your favorite movie, DVD, or television show during the treatment.
  • At-Home Teeth Whitening – Dr. Dean Hutto will prepare individualized trays that you can use at home. You will simply add a solution of carbamide peroxide, typically at about 10%, and wear the trays for an hour a day for up to two weeks.
  • Over-the-Counter Whitening – Several over-the-counter whitening products on the market can be used to treat light stains and discolorations. These take longer and typically do not give the degree of whitening that is possible with the methods that Dr. Hutto can provide. However, we can work with you to make recommendations on whitening toothpaste and products that are a good match for your requirements.

If whitening options will not be effective, Dr. Hutto can also discuss alternatives like veneers or dental bonding with you. These are also great ways to improve your smile.
