Frequently Asked Dental Questions Baytown

Giving You the Answers You Need

We value clear and satisfying communication with our patients, which is why Dr. Hutto and Dr. Williams have provided the answers to several of the most popular questions we hear on a daily basis below. If you don’t find the topic you’re looking for here or would prefer to discuss the matter directly with a team member, you are always welcome to contact our Baytown, TX, dental office.

How often do I need to visit for a dental checkup and cleaning?

Typically, an average, healthy adult should be attending professional checkups and cleanings twice each year, or once every six months. However, it’s important to remember that every mouth is different. If there are extenuating circumstances – such as the presence of gum disease or you’re overly sensitive to tooth decay – more frequent appointments may be recommended. Our goal is to develop a personalized preventive strategy that works best for YOU.

Going to the dentist makes me nervous. Can you help?

Of course. Dr. Hutto strongly believes in providing dental care that is genuinely anxiety-free, which is why our practice features not only plenty of enjoyable amenities like massage chairs and personal headphones but several levels of sedation dentistry as well that can calm frazzled nerves and help patients achieve deep comfort throughout treatment.

Do you see dental emergencies?

We do! Don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re experiencing a severe dental injury and/or pain and need immediate assistance. We make every effort to provide same-day dentistry in these urgent situations so that patients and their families are never left waiting without relief.

Is it true that a dentist can help treat my sleep apnea?

Yes, if they’ve received the proper training! Patients who’ve been diagnosed with mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) may benefit from the diligent use of a ProSomnus® oral appliance, which Dr. Hutto can provide here in Baytown.

Can you help me improve the way my smile looks?

Absolutely. We offer an extensive menu of cosmetic services that can help patients achieve all kinds of dazzling improvements, from whiter teeth to straighter teeth to teeth that are finally free of cracks and chips. During an initial consultation, Dr. Hutto and Dr. Williams can help you determine the choices that are right for you!

I’m experiencing a lot of jaw pain. What’s wrong?

While we won’t be able to provide a confident diagnosis without performing an in-person evaluation, either bruxism (habitual teeth grinding) or TMJ disorder is likely the culprit behind long-term chronic jaw pain. Thankfully, Dr. Hutto can provide effective therapy for both of these conditions in the form of oral appliances, occlusal (bite) adjustments, and other specialized techniques. We don’t just want to put a Band-Aid on the problem and call it a day – we want to help you achieve significant improvement that stands the test of time.
